Log Purchasing
Please note we do NOT purchase yard trees. If you mow or have mowed around it with a lawn mower, it is a yard tree. We do not make exceptions to this rule what-so-ever. NO YARD TREES! Now, that we have that out of the way,,,,,,,....
Species we purchase include; Ash, Aspen, Basswood (Lynn), Cottonwood, Cherry, Coffee, Elm (Red or Grey), Hackberry, Hickory (or Pecan), Locust, Maple (Soft or Hard Maple), Red Oak, Sycamore, Walnut, and White Oak.
One Family Hardwood purchases logs year round. Standing Timber and Cut Logs are the most profitable to you (the landowner) when sold directly to a sawmill. By selling directly to a sawmill you are removing middlemen from the sale of your timber putting more profits of your land in your hands. Call us to sell us the trees from your standing timber / forest / farm or cut logs. Please ask for Steve or email onefhllc@ymail.com with specific tree or log harvesting requests. Thank you for considering One Family Hardwood for the sale of your Hardwood Timber.
Below is a helpful table to estimate the footage of your trees. Please note logs are purchased by the diameter (measurement across, NOT around) of the small end of the log inside the bark. To determine diameter from the circumference measurement simply divide the circumference by 3.14 and subtract a few inches (to account for the bark on the outside of the log) that number will be very close to the diameter of the log if the measurement is taken where the small end of a log would be. We purchase logs and or standing trees according to the doyle scale. There are other scales which vary (some more, some less footage) in footage, but the Doyle scale is the standard for purchasing North American Hardwoods. Don't be fooled by buyers offering a larger footage using an International Scale, but offering less money per board foot.
